Appointment of Zinhle Tyikwe as Chief Executive Officer designate

The Board of GS1 South Africa, trading as the Consumer Goods Council of South Africa (CGCSA), has after a selection process appointed Zinhle Tyikwe as Chief Executive Officer with effect from 01 July 2022. As you may be aware, Tyikwe is currently the CGCSA Executive in charge of Human Resources and Communications, and she will be taking over from Gwarega Mangozhe, who is leaving at the end of June to pursue other interests.

Zinhle holds two honours degrees in Human Resources Development and Industrial Psychology and Organisational Development, all from UNISA, as well as an MBA from the University of South Wales. She has more than 20 years of human resources and strategic management experience. She has been with the CGCSA since 2013. She also currently serves on the boards of the Wholesale and Retail SETA and Steve Biko Academic Hospital.

Her appointment will ensure continuity of the CGCSA’s mandate and activities and further consolidate the success we have achieved so far in lobbying on regulatory, trade and policy matters affecting members. Importantly, working together with the CGCSA Management Team, she will oversee the further growth of the CGCSA as the voice of the FMCG sector.

Please join them in thanking Gwarega for his able leadership and stewardship of the CGCSA which has been successfully positioned as the voice of the FMCG sector in SA, and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

Lastly, Gareth Ackerman and Johan Vorster, co-chairs of CGCSA wishes to thank everyone for their continued membership of, and support for the CGCSA. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Zinhle who is ready to engage and work to ensure better trade.
