I would like to thank you for your support and encouragement throughout 2019. Both at a business and personal level we have enjoyed the comments, the shares and the discussions in email and social media. We have loved the queries and the shared articles and the latest news that you have sent us.

Thank you for taking the time to read our news, our articles and posts. Thanks for joining us at events and webinars-it’s been great getting to know you and your challenges.  Every week that goes by is a confirmation of why we started Food Focus and the way we can support you in our unique way.

Despite a very challenging year we have made it and we end on a high note. We look forward to 2020 but also to the next decade and we are excited about the many plans we have to improve our service, help you more, promote you more and tackle those difficult issues.

2019 has certainly not been an easy year for the food industry - from the implementation of the new regulations that have been put in place after the listeria outbreak, the scrutiny from the media and the drive to restore consumer confidence to the constrained economy, load shedding, drought and now flooding!  
 
It' been impressive to see so many food businesses doing the right thing regardless - like putting food safety and quality first, managing your impact on the environment, and building into your organisation's food safety culture.  
 
I've been so encouraged this year to see how much emphasis had been placed on sustainability and protecting the environment. From the demise of plastic straws in most places, to a bigger focus on recyclable packaging, energy efficiency, water conservation and food waste. It's been great to see the industry coming up with such innovating solutions to these problems.
 
Food Focus has had a busy year too - the popularity of our events management services has resulted in us organizing a number of industry events  - from the meat sector, retailers, equipment sector and more. We also launched our food safety culture train the trainer event which had such brilliant feedback from the delegates, who are now starting to make their own ripples in the sector - positive ones!
 
Our most recent success has been the acquisition of Food and Beverage Reporter Magazine, the first edition of which was published last week! We're excited to add print media to our stable of services, but also to see how we can add more of a digital presence to the publication in the months to come.

I hope the holidays bring you time to recharge, eat some great food and connect with loved ones.  Thank you for your support in 2019 -  I look forward to journeying with you again in 2020!
