The Department of Agriculture Land Reform and Rural Development (DALLRD) has issued a statement relating to a monitoring and surveillance microbiological programme they will be running.
In accordance with the Meat Safety Act, 2000 (Act No.40 of 2000) DALLRD will be gathering this information in order to generate data to aid with the goal of developing pathogen reduction.
They are requesting that access be provided to DALLRD officials who will be collecting surface swab samples, among others, which will be submitted to ARC OVI Laboratory for analysis.
The Department will pay for the analysis.
