That's a wrap for 2022!

That's a wrap for 2022!

Thank you for 2022

As we say goodbye to you for the year, we look back on a lot of change and salute the industry for working so hard despite all the economic and logistical challenges 2022 brought us.

At Food Focus we have also had to say goodbye to Linda Jackson, as she leaves the food industry to focus on her family. Linda was a co-founder and an amazing part of our team, and her input and knowledge will always remain a part of us.

So while 2023 will be a little different for us, we remain as passionate as ever about the food industry, and we have lots of new conversations and activities planned for you for the new year.

But as always, we want to thank you sincerely for being part of our journey!

Will you join us in Joburg?

Our Food Safety Summit is happening in May this year, and our topics and speakers are going to be exciting! We're hosting it live in Joburg, close to the airport, so make sure to pencil these dates into your diary, you don't want to miss all we have lined up for you! More info to follow.
We know January is a busy time for training course providers - so make sure to make time to load your courses for the first quarter on www.foodemy.co.za

We also have a special running to promote your 2023 TRAINING CALENDARS!
You can chat to akhona@foodriskforum.co.za for all the details!
We implemented some in-depth Food Safety Culture Assessments for some key brands in South Africa this year. More than just an audit criterion, it goes so much deeper than this, and smart companies realise that, and are acting on it.

FSC is also a golden thread within our Food  Safety Summit 2023, as we focus on people.

Remember...

Food safety culture is also important at home this holiday season!

International studies attributing foodborne illness within the home had incidence rates from 12 to 64 percent and commercial foodservice settings in 21 to 85 percent. For studies in the UK, the home was implicated in 12 to 17 percent of outbreaks and food service between 44 to 85 percent of outbreaks (Eves et al., 2017). The European Food Safety Authority reported between 36 and 39 percent of outbreaks are attributed to the home setting in 2011, 2014 and 2015. Food Standards Agency, UK, 2018

You can be a food safety champion in your own home, among your friends and family, sharing your knowledge of food safety to make every meal safer!
