In 1948, countries of the world came together and founded WHO to promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable – so everyone, everywhere can attain the highest level of health and well-being.
WHO’s 75th anniversary year is an opportunity to look back at public health successes that have improved quality of life during the last seven decades. It is also an opportunity to motivate action to tackle the health challenges of today ̶ and tomorrow.
For us in the food industry, we celebrate the ways in which WHO impacts our sector, and you can find out more about this in their Global Strategy for Food Safety 2022-2030, with the vision that all people, everywhere, consume safe and healthy food so as to reduce the burden of FBDs. This strategy gives stakeholders the tools they need to strengthen their national food safety systems and collaborate with partners around the world.
The complexities facing the dairy industry, the power of relationships, and diverging interests among government departments, dairy processors, distributors, and food retailers, are often the cause of over-regulation.
How can we, as stakeholders within the dairy industry navigate through the processes of regulation in a multi-dimensional, fragmented regulatory environment such as this?
In pushing so hard for certification and capacity building, we have created a check-box system and we are chasing the certificate in order to do business. Has the “paper” achievement become the focus, rather than a properly functioning food safety management system with people involved?
If so, how do we change this? What about auditor competence and calibration when new versions are issued? Has this not become a money-making business? What about small players that wish to train for FSSC 22000 or similar? Are there special arrangements made for them?
Join us as we hear from the experts in our panel discussion on fixing the leak in your food safety management system. Our experts include Erica Sheward (GFSI), Kelly Mulholland (Henn) (FSSC 22000), Elmé Coetzer-Boersma (GlobalGAP), Amanda McCarthy (BRC).
