Did you know: ultraviolet light is invisible to the human eye but can be
used to disinfect microorganisms including chlorine-resistant protozoa.
UV falls into three categories, separated by wavelength. UV-A is responsible for sunburns and is
commonly linked to skin cancer. UV-B also has a part in the tanning and burning of skin.
The third type, UV-C, has the shortest wavelength and is the type of radiation that has been used to
disinfect drinking water, sanitize wastewater, and sterilize food contact surfaces.
