Leon Harmse is a principal lecturer in occupational health and safety at the Tshwane University of Technology specialising in occupational hygiene.
He holds a Master’s degree: Environmental Health and is currently finalising his Doctorate thesis on occupational health at poultry abattoirs in SA.
He also holds a Diploma in professional competency from the British Institute for Occupational Hygiene.
Other highlights include:
- 1994 & 1995 Received OHASA awards for contribution in occupational hygiene
- 1999 Vice chancellors achievement award from Technicon Pretoria
- Nominated for an international occupational hygiene award and as best lecturer
- SAIOH award 2013
- Developed and arranged more than 14 short courses at the Technicon Pretoria and Tshwane University of Technology 1990 - 2007
- Registered with the HPCSA and SAIOH
- Presented at several conferences and published several peer reviewed and popular articles
