They say you cannot please all of the people all of the time, and the last couple of weeks are proof of that. The recent heavy rains have brought relief for farmers in some areas of the country, yet at the same time it presents a substantial threat to the the nut industry. (See our roundup for more).
Likewise Minister Pravin Gordhan's commitment to engage in further consultations before the sugar tax is implemented is a relief for industry, yet the reduction of the proposed tax from 20% down to 11% has disappointed the sugar tax supporters.
