Retention records for training

Hi

Can you please advise on the retention period for training records.  We just had our GFSI audit and a non-conformance was raised.  Our procedure states that we keep our records for 3 years but according to the auditor we have to keep it for the duration of employment + 2 years.

I can't find any reference to this anywhere.  If you can point me in the right direction i would appreciate it.

Janice Giddy from Entecom, a FoodBev SETA accredited training provide shared the following with us regarding SETA requirements for training records:

"Our procedure says that we keep all hard copies of assessments and learner records for 5 years.
Declarations of competence, ID's, SETA achievement letters are scanned and kept for 10 years."

We hope this adds clarity on the issue of training records?

Thanks for your post - we have put together a useful table for you, with all the time frames for retention of records according to legislation. Have a look at this article called "Managing your compliance records according to legislation" You can view it here http://www.foodfocus.co.za/home/Legislation/Articles/Managing-your-compliance-records-according-to-legislation-
